Comment-Commending List

This item was emailed to this blog--AR

The undersigned organizations and individuals are commending KOMU TV on the excellent investigative report, "Combating Autism from Within." The friends and families of vaccine-injured children, with mercury induced autism, congratulate you on the recent coverage and discussions of this serious disorder which has reached epidemic levels across the United States.

We are so pleased to see the extensive research reported to reveal the struggles families face and the truth about the poisoning of a generation of children through the use of thimerosal containing vaccines.

The Missouri School of Journalism should be proud, this report exemplifies why it is known as the leader in the world for students desiring careers in Journalism. We believe the experience and training these student/reporters have gained through this series will prove to be immeasurable for advancement and professional careers in the media.

The amount of science that was covered is the most in-depth, thoughtful and truthful investigation we have watched unfold by any journalist, during the fifteen year explosion in diagnoses of vaccine related autism.

The journalistic integrity and credibility at KOMU has allowed your viewers to see the reality of children affected by autism and the blatant falsehood of the government and medical community trying to keep this tragedy from being exposed. Your unbiased and accurate report was the first to acknowledge the conflicts of interest which have infested the medical community where a "First Do No Harm" attitude should prevail. The heart breaking lack of medical, educational and social service support for these families was reported in a respectful and meaningful way.

Ashley Reynolds and her team uncovered and reported the misleading information, that is often provided by CDC or pharmaceutical funded scientists, and reported the fact that mercury is still in most flu, tetanus, and diphtheria/tetanus vaccines--and an array of vaccines still contain "trace" amounts. (The term "trace" is not recognized as a scientific term.)

We were pleased to see honest interviews with known experts Dr. Boyd Haley and Dr. David Ayoub speaking about the relationship between mercury exposure and neurological injury. Ms. Reynolds secured an exclusive interview with local resident and former chairman of the Microbiology Department, Dr. Frank B. Engley, Jr., whose studies from 1940's-90's found toxicity of thimerosal at a nanomolar level.

The parents of children suffering from vaccine-induced illnesses applaud you for speaking out about the families' tragedies and reporting the research supporting a causal link between mercury in vaccines and neurodevelopmental disorders.

We sincerely appreciate your brave reporting of all sides of the devastating disorder of autism. We look forward to your hour presentation in February.

Anne Dachel: anti-vaccine activist???

This item was emailed to this blog--AR

I read the comment referring to me as an anti-vaccine activist: "You were introduced to autism last June when you interviewed Dr. Miles. After the story ran, you were deluged with messages from anti-vaccine activists, such as Anne Dachel at Age of Autism. The activists convinced you there was another side to the story that needed to be told, and that's what precipitated the Combating Autism series."
I've never thought of myself of being "anti-vaccine." I'm dedicated to publicizing the epidemic of autism affecting a generation of children, yet which is unrecognized by the medical community and the federal health agencies.
The reference was made to "another side to to the story that needed to be told." Isn't that what legitimate journalism is all about? Isn't the media obligated to investigate and fairly present issues like this? Ashley Reynolds gave us some of the most balanced coverage we've ever seen in the press.

Comment-Scientific Criticisms-KOMU

http://www.safeminds.org/pressroom/pres_releases/Review_Miles_Takahashi_6-20-07.pdf

For those who are students of science, it would seem there are some fair assessments and issues brought to light in the piece above. As relates to the KOMU coverage of this, I would have to think Dr. Miles might want to comment on these criticisms in the February wrap up.
For policy makers in state government in Missouri, this little project has done a great service to our democracy by presenting both sides of a debate. I encourage all to read through all of the many posts, understand we are human and this is of incredible importance to many not just as a medical debate but as relates to the potential for biological imperialism as imposed by state and federal government. Titer documentation not vaccination records should determine public school entrance and exemptions need to be protected. I will vaccinate my fourth child in a quite different manner than the "guidelines" given by the CDC, knowing all that I understand currently and was complete unaware of before having been engaged in this area by the experience of my family.

Evidence based medicine requires evidence of need for boosters after first dose of a vaccine in a series; it is the keep-it-simple-stupid approach that should be openly and honestly discussed between family practice and pediatrics physicians and their patients. Those who open their doors in practice to this idea may see many new patients, parents like me who want to vaccinate their children for the appropriate at-risk epidemic diseases at appropriate ages with the safest of approaches; this would shift revenue to clinical pathologists from vaccine companies selling unneeded boosters and to open-minded clinicians in the care of children. This compromise puts the patient-physician relationship back in the spotlight. The approach also dims the governance-governed relationship of the CDC and public health officials trying to do their best on a societal basis while ignoring the needs of individuals. These policy artists are so willing to overdose vaccines on the assumption that it is the best method to protect a populace that can't make decisions on its own; very unAmerican and unscientific as the idea has never ben approached any other way. A titer check approach to indicate booster need would actually help defuse a growing vaccine availability crisis, ironic isn't it?

For those who ask why a former Husker and Dakotan has so much to say on this blog, it is simple: our water is your water, I live on the banks of the great river that bears the name of your state and what we do up here on these molecules of H2O gets to Missouri eventually.
Protecting our children's environment is getting harder everyday and it is something that requires great effort from the "little" guy. Autism has a major environmental component that is a liability for the many large industries that are polluting our children's bodies; thus, though vaccines are not completely to blame they do reflect the effects of an industry who job it is to protect the environmental health of our children.
Physicians pushing pharmaceuticals to be better than the fossil fuels industry, metals manufacturers and other industrial polluters shouldn't be so hard, but as anyone can see from experience on this blog, the conditioning of MDs leads them to keep their mouths shut on politically contentious issues for fear of many backlashes.

If PHaRMA wants to push back on this issue, maybe they should spend some money on researching the environmental connections here in a productive manner for their industry by supporting the epidemiology of autism near industrial pollution sites instead of just trying to white wash their own role in this , or give Dr. Von Saal of the University of Missouri some grants to research the explosion of reproductive toxins in our food supply. The role of other industries in this internal-environmental crisis affecting the neurological health of the next generation of Americans is probably even worse than the role played by vaccines, but mom's keep blaming vaccines completely when by temporal association there is an event of vaccination and a response of neurological decline that then gets institutionally ignored.

The future will show we are on the course of a growing epigenetic epidemic, our genes and our environments are suffering increasing dysfunction. These kids are Rachel Carson's birds of the 21st century they need better than what society is doing to skirt the issues so as to protect establishment medicine (state of denial), pharmaceuticals (vaccines), big oil (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons), manufacturing (heavy metals), agriculture (organophosphates), food processors (bisphenol A, aspartame), and others (including radiologists) who are playing this role in punctuated genomic instability complicated by molecular slowing of toxin handling kinetics in an increasing proportion of an entire generation of children. Sadly, all of this is only going to get much worse (slowly) for a very long time (decades); the chicken little of today will be understood as the sentinel of tomorrow-by then I fear we will not really have the American experiment anymore, being too run down as a middle class populace by these social-environmental issues to fight the good fight anymore.

As for approach to treatment, establishment academic clinicians need to start paying attention to the work and ideas of Martha Herbert, MD, PhD at Harvard, she's doing the right homework on this issue where so many others are afraid to in the ivory towers. People who want the vision to see how to make this debate productive for children need to read Changing the Course of Autism by Bryan Jepson, MD.

Story Idea-insurance

This person wants more coverage on insurance issues. This item was emailed to this blog--AR

Hi-I wanted to contact you concerning your coverage of autism. I do not live in your area but since you, as a member of the press have asked for input I am taking this oportunity to express my opinion concerning the presses typical coverage of autistic disorders.

I am the Father of a 4 year old by who was diagnosed with an Autistic Spectrum disorder at 18 months. To our knowledge our son has never recieved thimerisol in any of his vaccines. In fact, on the day he went for his 18 month check up he was diagnosed. This check up included giving him the MMR vaccine. To be clear-he was diagnosed as literally minutes before recieving the vaccine.

I do not discount the posibility that mercury or vaccines play a role in some childrens autism. However i find it to less likely than the billions of other potentialy viable causes. I say this because it has been tested and tested and tested and the tests do not indicate this is the cause. Meanwhile just about everything else has not been tested.

You, as a member of the press are looking for controversy. I understand that. Unfortunately you, and the rest of the press are missing the real controversy which is the blatant discrimination by the medical insurance industry. Over 90% of health insurance policies will not cover what main stream medicine recommends to treat children with these disorders. Occupational, Speech and behavioral therapies.

There is no controversy among health professionals that these interventions, when administered early, result in the best outcome for our children. Yet this contoversy is drowned out by the dead horse argument of vaccines and thimerisol. Moreover the paltry sums of funding going to finding treatments for autism are being drained to fund even more testing for an argument that has already been decided. The press has an obligation to report on controveries that affect public policy.

Where is the report that asks the insurance industry-Why are you descriminating against Autistic Children? If you investigated this, you will find that the justifications for this has no merit. We live in a society in which treatment or erectile dysfunction are funded by insurance yet treatments for autism are not-why? The most blatant effect of this descrimination is the economic reality that without insurance unding for autism treatments, no economic incentive exists for finding better treatments. Who is going to fund research into something they will not be paid for? Examples of the lack of economic incentive and/ or misguided priorities for research in finding better treatments are numerous.

I will give you one: Medical science has known for over forty years that abnormal EEG's, siezures and autism are closely related. However, to date, no research has ever been conducted to determine whether autistic children- who are given drugs to correct abnormal EEG's and eliminate the potential for siezures-autistic symptoms get better or worse after treatment with these drugs. The why is obvious-drug companies will be paid for treating siezures, they will not be for treating Autism.

My wife and I funded out of our pocket over $30,000 last year for main stream medicine recomended therapies. Afer considerable effort our insurance company reimbursed $408. Because my insurance was under Cobra law; due to my changing jobs I paid for our health insurance. The premiums were $1200 per month or $14,400. I currently make $84,000 per year plus benefits. Congress is currently trying pas legislation to give free insurance to children whose families make up to $64,000 per year.

Yet this coverage will not cover Autism nor will the coverage the rest of us pay for through our employer sponsored plans. A few states are passing legislation to change this problem. However, neither the federal government under which ERISA sponsored plans (the laws which govern insurance plans for most of us) or my state has passed such legislation.

I do not know what your state is doing. But I urge you to find out. We are overwhelmed with the 24/7 job of caring for a child with an ASD. It is outrageous to me to have to pay insurance pemiums and taxes whch fund every disorder except the one my son has.

Story Idea-yeast,diet, vax, allergies

This person wants to share their ideas for the series. This item was emailed to this blog.--AR

Hello! Thanks for covering such an important topic. Here is what I think needs to come to the forefront. I'm the mom of two kids with ASD so I think I'm qualified to weigh in.

For one, wwww.tacanow.com and www.austim.com have some fabulous information about autism that is rarely talked about.

Other than that: 1) Yeast- Candida Albicans. This is a "theory" that in my opinion is right on that affects all of our ASD children. It causes problems such as sensory issues, weak immune systems, fatigue, irritability, speech delay, digestive issues, rashes, eczema, poor appetite, sleep disturbances, sound sensitivity and much more. It is worth looking into and very valid

2) Gluten Free Casein Free diet- supposedly controversial but plays into the yeast situation. Very effective when used long enough...i.e. most parents who claim that this doesn't work have only tried it for a month at most. It takes up to 9 months for the body to rid itself of gluten and casein remnants.

3) Vaccines- I know that this is also supposedly controversial but it is fact that not only is thimerosal used in vaccinces, but just as bad as that is the fact that formaldehyde, arsenic, aluminum bicarbonate (a neurotoxin), tin, and antifreeze are used at preservatives. Would you feed this stuff to your infant in his or her bottle? Research from the cdc.gov website the side effects of formaldehyde and the other ingredients including thimerosal. Isn't it quite interesting that acute mercury poisoning and autism share the same exact side effects? Then look at the others...do you think that brain damage and seizures is an acceptable side effect?

4) Allergies- vaccienes are also known to be the culprit of food allergies like wheat, milk, egg, gelatin and latex. This is because these ingredients are all present in vaccines and we introduce them to our infant children when they are less than 48 hours old to their very immature immune systems

5) Also talk about why it is that medical doctors seem to offer little or no support to those whose children have been diagnosed with autism. It's because they don't know much of anything about it to begin with . Most of a parents best education comes from other parents- not doctors.

I also wanted to point out: Isn't it interesting that parents are taught to look to our pediatricians/doctors for advice on autism from the moment they are diagnosed. The problem is that once a parent approaches the doctor, suddenly they know virtually nothing beyong "Hey, let's get your child onto a 2-6 months waiting list (if you're lucky) for speech therapy, Physical therapy and Occupational Therapy. Let's cross our fingers and hope for the best!" Although I agree that these therapies play a very important role in helping children with autism, I don't think it's enough.

Also, I am outraged that our insurance companies cover these "band-aid" treatments (as I have called them) but they do not bother to cover the core of the very effective treatments that parents are using to help their own children. I'm talking about proper supplements, vitamins, diets and anti yeast/fungal medications aka biomedical treatments. These are effective treatments....I am amazed at how few doctors actually recommend special diets for people with most any medical condition. I am also annoyed that insurance does not cover testing for vitamin deficiencies (another problem with our kids) and enzyme deficiencies. There should also be testing of our childrens blood work to determine how much of a problem yeast actually is for an individual child so that an appropriate treatment can be determined.Basically, I am upset because insurance companies and medical doctors are all so concerned about putting a "band-aid" over the effects that have already taken place but no one wants to get to the heart of the problem and look deeper inside of the child to fix what can be fixed. If we can do that, then it would be a lot easier for parents to deal with the rest of what is not able to be fixed and can rest easier knowing that they did everything they could do to help their child when all is said and done.

Anthony's story

This is Anothony's story. This item was emailed to this blog--AR
Our story starts out like so many others that have been touched by autism.
I found out I was pregnant in Dec. of 2004, just 3 weeks after the death of my Grandmother. I pretty much had a normal pregnancy, very unlike my first. I had a beautiful baby boy Aug. 26th 2003, he weighed 7 lbs 5 oz and we named him Anthony.
Anthony pretty well developed normally, met all his millstones on time if not a little early. Anthony said "Mama" by age 8 months, he walked a week before his first birthday and had acquired a vocabulary of maybe 10 words that he used regularly.
Then around the age of about 13 months old, I started to notice some sensory problems ( my oldest also had/has sensory problems) so I talked to his Dr. and at the time he told me not to worry about it, at that time I thought maybe I was being a bit paranoid about things and blew it off, now I so much regret that I ever did that because I knew in my heart something was wrong. Then around the age of 18 months I noticed Anthony wasn't talking as much and he was withdrawing from a lot of things he normally wouldn't withdraw from. He got very interested in fans or anything that spun, he would sit and line things up, it also seemed he was crying all the time over every little thing bt yet he would make eye contact.
I then called birth to 3 myself and asked them to come check things out and I also talked to his Dr at this point yet again and told him everything that was going on, he then informed me that he had a child with autism and "looking at the big picture" he thought Anthony may have autism and I left his office thinking that Anthony did not have it because he was still making eye contact. I figured it was something else but wasn't sure what.
Birth to 3 came and did the evaluations on him and they said he did have delays as well as Sensory processing disorders and he was able to receive services, speech, OT as well as PT. His Dr also referred him to a specialist in VA. Which I thank God for this man every single day.
Anthony went to see him in Nov. of 05 and that day will haunt me for the rest of my life. We went into this office, and his nurse asked us a bunch of questions, and just watched him for a little bit and then said she was going to get the Dr. to talk to us, the Dr came in and did the same thing that the nurse had done and then said he was going to take Anthony and my oldest child out to the lobby to play ( they had a huge lobby that was very kid friendly) and that he would be back to talk to us.
When this Dr came back in, that changed our lives forever. He told us Anthony had autism and I looked at him and said " No your wrong, he looks at us, he makes eye contact" he then explained to us that what we were "considering" eye contact was not eye contact at all, he felt like Anthony could see right through him and I have no idea what was said after that. I sat there in shock, thinking this Dr is so wrong, this is not happening to my beautiful boy, not to my family. I left that office with my husband and my kids and some pamphlets about autism.
On the way back home (which was a 2 hour drive from where we lived) I remember going through so many emotions, there was many tears, I felt helpless, I blamed myself, then I got angry. I have never felt that much anger in my life. I wanted to know what happened, I wanted answers that wasn't there.
About 2 weeks went by and I actually started to research, and found all this stuff about shots mainly the MMR and I actually went to his Dr and asked if the shot has caused this and he said there's no proof that the shot had done this to so many kids so I left it at that. I felt at the time I would probably never have an answer and instead of looking for something that was not there, I needed to help my son. Somehow I had to get past the autism and find my son before I could ever help him.
Today Anthony is a happy 4 year old who just amazes me in so many ways. He has had a life full of therapy, OT, PT, Speech, ABA, DTT, and has had a very good home program. He is in a very good special needs preschool program with a wonderful teacher and wonderful therapist. Anthony loves school, he knows all his shapes, counts to 10 in Spanish, knows his ABC's and has become quit the little singer.
I remember a time not to long ago when I begged God to let me hear him say "mama" just once more, I needed to hear that from him and it hurt so bad to hear other little kids his age calling for "mama" and Anthony just couldn't do it. Now Anthony says "Mama I love you" and it's so beautiful to watch him grow, to see the things he does, to hear him laugh, to see him smile. I don't see the autism anymore, I see my baby, I see how blessed I am to have autism touch our lives and I wouldn't want it any other way. Autism can be a beautiful thing once you see your child. Once that happens the world is a different place, as adults we tend to take things for granted and we never stop to look at things from a child's point of view, where everything is so new. Having Anthony made me do that. He's nothing short of amazing!
I love someone with Autism!

Story Idea-vaccine safety

This person wants more coverage on vax safety. This item was emailed to this blog.--AR

I hope you will report on the vaccine safety issue. Vaccines contain a number of toxic ingredients, and in addition we need to do more to determine which children will be affected (for example, it is shown that moms with auto-immune conditions stand a much greater chance of having vaccines affect their children negatively).

As Jenny McCarthy has been saying on her recent press tour, the vaccine schedule needs to be re-visited. There are too many given in too short a time span, and in addition, vaccines should not be necessarily given to every child…they are not “one size fits all”.

In addition, many studies call into question how effective they even are. In the case of recent outbreaks, the majority of those affected were fully vaccinated.

Best,

Carrie

End The Controversy

Being a mom of an autistic boy is tuff, but not as tough as being the one diagnosed. Why are we all voluntaring ourselves to experiments with vaccines on babies. If autism is diagnosed at age three like my sons then why not wait for vaccines. It would sure end this huge controversy over vaccines. The government cant control us that much. We need to come together and try this for our babies. The reason being its not just the Mercury, and excluding that isnt going to end this. Its everything that makes up the vaccines including toxins. If a babys immune system isnt fully developed how are we letting the CDC inject them with 36 vaccines? What would the harm be by waitng until the age of 4 or 5. Im afraid the only harm would be to the CDC. We need to stand up for our babies.

Parent view

This posting was submitted from a parent who wants to share their view . This item was emailed to this blog--AR

As a parent, I have fought hard and long to help my child. I have
not found much help or solace in mainstream medicine. I partly blame
them for putting me in this situation in the first place. Health
insurance and mainstream doctors seem to be in the dark about
biomedical treatment.

Biomedical actually works, and recovers kids.
I had a 3 year old with PDD. Through Biomedical treatments he is now
a healthy normal 5 year old. I find it frusturating that I had to do
it all on my own. I was not able to find help in the medical
community. But thanks to wonderful people all over the country,
sharing information on biomedical treatment...I learned what would
help my son.

Of the many things I see media side stepping with autism, is
vaccination. While I do understand it's politically. We are supposed
to have free speech. It needs to be brough out and every parent in
this country needs to know that vaccinating their child brings a
risk of autism. Until it is proven otherwise, which it won't be,
because they can't prove it. We have a right to know what is being
put into our child's bodies. And the potential for damage.
Vaccines contain mercury, aluminum, formeldahyde...these are
poisons.

We have a right to know. Parents also have a right to know, that
their child who has already suffered damage, can be helped.
Biomedical includes providing vitamins and minerals, dietary
modification, heavy metal chelation, and anti-viral/fungal
treatments. It needs to be said that Autism, is a systemic illness,
not a brain disease. It is not something that some poor kid
inherited and nothing can be done for him. Not at all. In fact, if
parents are educated about biomedical when first diagnosed, recovery
can happen quickly. I also feel that when a parent expressed
developement concerns to a doctor in thier toddler, it not be
dismissed. All of us knew from the time our kids were 18 months,
that something was wrong. We were dismissed..told they would outgrow
it. Told that some kids develop slower. It was all a lie to passify
us, until finally the truth was evident.
Parents need to know the signs and doctors need to take it seriously.

We also need to stop trusting strangers and doctors to know what is
best for our kids.
Andrew Hall Cutler, a wonderful chemist recovered his girlfriends
autistic child with his treatment protocol. I used his protocol,
which is simple, straight forward, and scientifically solid. It
recovered my son. Something no one else thought could be done.
Why don't we hear about it? Because his treatment is not a money
making prescription.

As parents, we are tired of the lies. The cover up, the fake studies
saying that vaccines have nothing to do with it. I saw it with my
own eyes. I saw my child get this way...from his vaccines. And I
hear this same thing from tons of other parents across this country.
I can't beleive this country is so corrupt, that it continues, and
no one is stepping up to stop it. Our only hope it to educate other
parents, so they can save their children.

Story Idea-awareness of possible link

This posting was submitted from a mother who wanted to share her story. This item was emailed to this blog--

Here is what I have lived, so I know it to be true, not a guess, not a theory..... My son was fine until about age 2. His behaviors changed gradually as well as his loss of speech, gradual until there was nothing. As time passed, he was exhibiting behaviors that are routinely and classically autistic. I began trying to find someone who could help me figure out what was going on with him. We heard autism, then asperger's, then PDD-NOS and finally Apraxia. These well meaning doctors and therapists didn't really know, they were making an educated guess based on behaviors that he was exhibiting.

We spent a lot of time and money going to all of the recommended therapists to help him learn how to manage these behaviors in a more appropriate manor. We never saw much of an improvement, though. A teacher flippantly mentioned the vaccine/mercury connection. I had never ever heard of that before. I researched it thoroughly before deciding to have him tested, and then it was just to "rule it out" because he never had any kind of immediate adverse reactions.

To my surprise, tests came back showing that he was, indeed, full of mercury. By that time, he was almost fully vaccinated. That started us down the long road of medical treatments to repair the damage caused by mercury. The overload of mercury caused him to be unable to eliminate other environmental toxins, so he was storing lead and arsenic from the water, tin from canned vegetables, etc. It was a nightmare! We had to make so many life changes, cleaning products, food, pulling out carpet and replacing it with wood floors, etc. etc. Along with doctor's appointments, medical tests at the doctor's office and hospitals, dental problems associated with mercury toxicity, speech therapy, OT, PT, auditory integration.......the list goes on.

Final outcome after 4 1/2 years of this: He has lost almost all of his "autistic" behaviors with speech being the last hurdle to overcome. Mercury acts as a numbing agent and he couldn't feel where to place his tongue to make the correct sounds needed for speech production. From the age of 2 until 9 months ago (he is 8) he was completely non-verbal. He has been steadily progressing in this area since Oct. of last year, so we are hopeful. My point to all of this is, had it not been for that teachers' casual comment, my son would have never made this kind of progress with therapy and would always have been labeled and considered to be Autistic.

Story Idea-may not be vax

This posting was submitted from a mother who wants to share her story and express the concern vaccines may not be to blame. This item was emailed to this blog--AR

Hello Ashley,
I can very well understand the grief and anger of many of these parents as two of my four boys are autistc . Personally I am not yet convinced it is due to vaccinations.

My reasons for this are my eldest son recieved all of his shots and also my second followed in the same manner. Afterward came my little love Zachery. Zachery was a wonderful baby and if any Mom had him as their first they would surely wish for more .

Around the age of two I began noticing him doing odd things and he did not seem to be having the type of side by side play time with his brother which most children do ( I am lucky enough to be the aunt of 7 nieces and nephews ) so I was well aware that something was not right. and by the way that brother and Zachery are 13 months apart. He would line up toys, insisted on wearing two different shoes ( one being a slipper and one being a tennis shoe ) and to top it off they had to be wet!!!

When Zach was four I had my fourth child ...he is now five and had only recently recieved some vaccinations and yes he is also autistic. My husbands brother had just told us that his son is very obsessive, prefers to be by himself when at day care, and very often gets excited and begins flapping his arms and twirling his hands and also likes lining toys up opposed to playing with them and again he is not yet vaccinated. My husband also has a cousin that has an autistic child that is my oldest sons age ( 14).

I am pretty much convinced that this is something that runs through a family line. The oddest part is when they speak of their deceased grandfather their seems to be some autistic signs. I would not doubt that there may be a seed planted that the mercury may worsen what is already there but I'm still leaning towards it running through the family.

As far as the rise in autism could it be years of it not being diagnosed as autisim? In third grade I had a boy in my class that would not be social with any other classmate and consistenly shook his head in a yes motion while wiggling his fingers and staring at them. Sadly enough I'm sure that not so many decades back there were many kids institutionalized without parents and doctors really knowing exactly what was going on. Hopefully I helped you with another point of veiw and always listen...these parents all work extra hard beyond what one can imagine unless in our shoes.

Thank you,
Mary

Story Idea-mercury poisoning vs autism

This posting was submitted from a mother who wants to share her story of vaccines history and possible effects. This item was emailed to this on this blog--AR

Hello,
My name is Sarah and I have a two and a half year old son. He is not on the Autistic Spectrum. When he got his six month shots, he had a wierd reaction. He was fussy for two days so I started to give him bottles of water instead of milk as it was summer and I thought he might be hot. He then started rocking back and forth, banging the same toy for literally three hours, not responding to loud and scary noises, not making eye contact, and making less noise, which he was a babbler before this.
So I was scared and looked up stuff about autism because I had heard that those were symptoms. I got a lot of vaccine research (he had had the flu shot, dtap, and I think first dose mmr) when I looked it up. I decided not to have him vaccinated and as time went on (three weeks eye contact to six weeks responding to noise then to nine weeks babbling and playing normally before they were gone completely and he still does one of them every once in awhile especially the lining up of toys alot but nothing for hours) he stopped doing most of those things. He learned to talk at around one year and learned to walk on schedule.

He now plays and is mostly normal. I credit this to the stopping of the shots. I also think giving him mostly water might have helped flush his system a little last time he got them. I am not sure, I do know that I feel he might have gotten worse otherwise. I think that as a boy he was more susceptible and I have an autoimmune disorder, so who knows what he might be really susceptible to yet?? (The link between mercury poisoning, the immune system, and the brain).

I am very skeptical that the vaccines have no link to autism or what might be mercury poisoning mistaken for autism. I don't know if you are looking for cases not really related to an autistic child but I thought this might be good for your project. For the record my husband nor I nor any future children, boy or girl will be getting vaccinated. Besides the mercury there are huge amounts of chemicals and additives. The way they are made altogether is totally disgusting. Monkey kidney cells, chick embryos, the puss scraped from calf's bellies? This is the way chickenpox, measles, some of dtap, and others are made. Why are we injecting this junk into babies or anyone for that matter?

Story Idea Vax and biomed

This posting was submitted from a person who wants coverage on vaccine ingredients and biomed treatment. This item was emailed to this blog---AR

I wish the media would cover:

-Toxic ingredients in childhood vaccines, including aluminum, formaldehyde, small amounts (STILL!) of mercury, and this among other valid reasons parents are choosing not to vaccinate

- the flu shot still contains a lot of mercury

-kids are recovering with biomedical treatment
